Here is Isaac who has learning to get in and out of our little rocking chair and thinks he is pretty big stuff.  I am amazed every day by all the things that he learns and does.  He is growing up SO fast. 

Here is our little performer singing Book of Mormon Stories: Samuel the Lamanite verse.  He is becoming quite the singer, as my sister said-Peter has a song for everything!  He sat down one evening and said that he was going to read his scriptures to us, which he did.  He flipped through his little Book of Mormon Stories picture book and told us what was happening in many of them and then would sing a song for it if he knew one.  Such a smart little guy...he must get that from his mom! :)

Snow day

We woke up one day to some chilly rain that turned into snow flurries and then by about 11 am we were covered in snow that was gone by 2pm...what a crazy day.  But the up side was that we could really see our little neighbors.  We have a couple families of Cardinals that like to "hang out" in this funny bush in our yard.  I have never seen so many in one place.  They sure do brighten the place up!

 

We decided one day to make some "bird feeders" out of peanut butter and pinecones.  Peter loved making them and the birds loved eating them. 

Dirt and Sun

The day before Alan had to start work was a BEAUTIFUL day!  So we took the boys to a really nice little park behind the Bass Pro Shop to play and have a little picnic lunch and then feed the ducks.  The boys had so much fun, but one of the funniest things happened when we were feeding the ducks.  It being the beginning of spring the ducks were a little frisky and some were being a little assertive over the bread...at once point Peter said "they are not being righteous, they need to repent!"  It is so fun to see him "liken" the scriptures to everyday life! :)  Even if ducks are exempt from needing to repent...

While the boys were napping Alan and I cleared off an area to the side of our patio where we discovered some tulips and daffodils sprouting up and discovered a whole flower garden area that someone once upon a time took really good care of.  After the boys woke up they just had to come and help.

 They had SO much fun digging in the dirt and "planting" whatever they could find back into the dirt.

Isaac was working really hard on this one spot, and every time he tried to move a big chunk of dirt he would totally man grunt.  I tried to capture on film but of course he stopped by the time I got the camera out.

Zoo

On one of the days before Alan started work that was nice and sunny, we decided to go check out the zoo.  Our expectations were not super high since we came from an area with an amazing zoo that is free, but we were pleasantly surprised.  It is an older zoo but it looks like they are trying to update it. 

The fun thing is that in many of the exhibits you get to go inside them.  This one was with birds and as you can see, they are up close and personal.

My little hatchling...Peter thought it was fun until he couldn't get out because the surface was too slick, good thing mom was there to rescue him.

Isaac was not too sure about the carousel, he kept trying to climb off his horse.

Peter on the other hand...had a blast riding his giraffe.

It was nice to get out and do something active, I am so excited that the weather is starting to warm up!

Family Fun

A few weeks after we got moved in we had our first visitors.  My family came to town for one of my cousin's wedding reception. My sister came out a few days early with her two girls and we had fun at the Bsss Pro Shop. Peter took some shooting lessons from dad.

Grandma and Isaac having fun at teh reception.  It was good to see family and celebrate my cousin's marriage.  We are so happy for them!  I didn't get a picture of it but they had a really cute cake.

The next day after church we had a dinner with all the family and a joint birthday party for grandma and Isaac (yes, his third this year!)  I made my mom's favorite cake (german chocoalte) and we had a fun tiem eating and just hanging out.

Isaac had fun opening presents yet again!

 

On Monday we went to Kalidescope in downtown Kansas City and then went to this really fun jungle exhibit at Crown Plaza.  It was so hard to take pictures because the kiddos were constantly on the move.

It was so fun to have them and we are so glad that we finally have space to have people come and visit!

Momentous Day

Peter will probably kill me in about 10 years for this, but we had a momentous day Saturday....there are no pictures, but there was a lot of jubilation around the event!  We have started potty training and for a week or so he has done great with peeing and keeping dry, but with the other (bowel movement) he has been a bit more reluctant.  I am sure our neighbors thought we had some big party going on...but it was just crazy parents celebrating over not having to change a diaper of poop! And Peter was SO excited, after receiving his chocolate reward he ran around the house yelling "I did it!"

Happy Valentine's Day!

We saw a commercial for a heart shaped pizza for Valentine's Day and I told Alan, half- jokingly that is what you can get me for Valentine's Day, and he did!  It was great, good pizza, minimal cleanup and no cooking for me!  

Peter and Isaac also enjoyed the bubbles they got in the mail from grandparents Jensen.  Isaac liked them but I am not sure he knew what to do when they popped on him. 

Peter bless his heart tries to hard to blow bubbles but he always puts them on him lips and tries blowing, which of course ruins it and he then ends up with soapy mouth after a while and starts spitting...at least he has fun!
