End of May Entertainment

Who needs to go out when I have my own dueling pianists at home??  They have so much fun, I hope they still enjoy it in a few years when they have to start taking lessons! ;)

Isaac's first attempt at painting all on his own and he didn't even try to eat any of it!  He did a great job of using all the different colors and was so excited to be painting like mom.

Another first for Isaac was that he actually sat down and built something with the blocks instead of just trying to knock everything over, he was so proud of himself and I was so excited that he now has something else to entertain himself!

 On Memorial Day we went to check out the local Botanical Gardens.  It doens't compare to tgeh gardens in St Louis but they were a lot of fun and the boys loved exploring while mom and dad checked out the local plant life.

 I loved their water gardens



 They had a fun fairies and forts exhibit going on, and this was the pirate one that Peter thought was pretty cool.

 And who can't pass up climbing on giant bronze bunny rabbits??

Just as I hoped, Peter was also excited in Isaac's new interest in building...it is so nice to see them play together instead of fighting over them!

Happy Mother's Day to Me!

I am not sure who was more excited about Mother's Day this year, me or Peter?  Peter got to help daddy pick out my presents and according to dad loved running through the store telling dad that mommy needs "this" :)  I have to say though he picked out a great bouquet of flowers, they were beautiful and lasted for weeks! 

After breakfast, I was informed that the next part of my present was that I got to go to both Sunday School and Relief Society without a kiddo!  Whoohoo, I can't remember the last time I got to sit in church for 2 hours kid free??!  It was the perfect present, I needed some quiet time!  Thanks babe!

Alan had asked what I wanted for dinner and I told him nothing that would require him to spend all day in the kitchen.  He suggested pizza and I said perfect!  (I could eat pizza multiple days a week) To top it off he made his chocolate lava cake which if FAB-U-LOUS! 

And Isaac and Peter thought so too! 

Although I think I actually got more in my mouth than they did!

Texas

At the beginning of May we took a trip to Texas to visit my Nana and some of our close friends that we haven't had to see since Alan started school.  With the price of tickets so cheap we decided to brave the airport instead of making the long drive with the kids.  Peter would have been happy to just ride the shuttle bus from the parking lot to the airport.

Peter was awesome during the flight he was so excited to be on a plane. Between looking out the window and talking about the wings and how he was flying, watching Finding Nemo and drinking his little juice he was an angel.  Isaac on the other hand used us as a trampoline for most of the flight.

As we were leaving the plane the pilot asked if Peter wanted to have a seat in the cockpit...the answer was yes of course, and you should have seen his eyes when he saw all the buttons and lights! 

We headed straight from the airport to my Nana's house for a visit where the boys entertained her with their antics and little boy charm and thankfully didn't detroy anything too much!  We met up with my Nana's brother and sister for dinner at our favorite chicken place called Babe's.

 It was so good to visit and we are so glad she is in good health, if only we could get her to move closer :)

 Someone told our waitress that it was Alan's birthday and as they sang Happy Birthday he had to wear a sombrero and ride a toy horse.  Alan was a good sport and galloped all over the restaurant.  I got it on video but promised I would not post it.

 We then headed to visit our friends from our old ward.  Their daughter Tessa had a whole party planned for Alan complete with a puppet show and games that she created herself which we enjoyed with the Fitzgeralds.  I missed most of it because I was trying to get Isaac to sleep but it must have been good because I kept hearing lots of laughter.

From the time Maren and I were pregnant and knew we were having little boys we have talked about them being friends even though we were moving away, and to our delight they became just that during our trip.  They were so cute together side by side vegging out to veggie tales...

and during their self created "catch and release" game with the poor plastic fish!

 Their giggles were adorable! 

It was so good to see our friends again and we are so excited that both families are done with school so we will hopefully get to see them more often.  We are so blessed to have such wonderful people in our life. 

Brother Fun

When I vacuum we always take the cushions off and play with them, we have now evolved from just jumping on/off them and have started building.  Peter thought the fort would make a great place to color...

 And Isaac couldn't resit joining him!

Our car was in need of a scrubdown and the boys were all to happy to "help" me wash the car.  I think they spent more time playing in the dirty car water and splashing in the bubbles than anything but they sure did have fun.  My biggest concern was that Isaac keep trying to suck on the wet sponges!  Gross!

A rare sharing moment, and if I am not mistaken someone was crying right after I took this....but it is moments like these that just make me smile and say this is why I do what I do and I wouldn't trade it for anything:)

The First "Fruits" of our Labors

We returned from our trip to Utah (post to follow) and were excited to see how our gardens had grown while we were gone.  To our delight and surprise the flowers were blooming beautifully, and we had two zucchini, a handful of green beans and three cherry tomatoes!  I had to take this picture quick because Peter was SO excited to eat the tomatoes and as you can see we had already eaten half the zucchini by the time I thought to take a picture.  Aren't Alan's dahlia beautiful?
