Random Pics..Random Order

Isaac finally has his belly button! His umbilical cord stayed on until the night before his one month visit and when it did fall off it was still a little gooey which the Dr said was normal but I thought was pretty weird! They had to put silver inside to help finish drying it out and to help keep it germ free. So we had to wait even longer for his first real bath so that everything could continue to heal. (side note: look at that belly, I think it is bigger than his head!) Sleeping babies are adorable I think and you can really see his daddy's inherited lips...just like big brother's. :)

Isaac is 5 weeks old in this picture and and as you can see he is starting to focus in on things more each day. It is really cute to see him watch Peter...it is almost like you can hear him think "what is this whirlwind that is always circling around me?"

During one of our nice days, we met up with my sister and niece to go to the Zoo. We went in the morning which is usually great, almost like we have the whole place to ourselves. Except this day happened to be St. Patricks Day and who knew that there was huge parade a few streets away and half of St. Louis was in attendance! Parking was crazy! But we made it and had a great time. You can't tell, but he was really excited to be on the carousel-he would just stop smiling every time he saw me trying to take a picture. Cold and yucky days are no fun with a toddler and a new baby, so I really try to find things for Peter to do. He really likes markers but I always contain him in the highchair because I don't really trust him...and rightfully so as you can see he tried to eat them and what you can't see is that he also tried putting them in his ears...so he walked around the rest of the day with orange ears!
Daddy son bonding time! Peter loves to lay on the floor with Isaac and having Daddy home was a special treat for him and nice for me since I didn't have to watch him like a hawk to make sure he was not smothering Isaac with love.

Snow...again

Who ever keeps ordering random snow storms needs to receive a wedgie.

Seriously, I was wearing shorts earlier this week and am back to sweaters, gloves and hats today!

New Words and Things

So a few new words Peter picked up this last week...smelly, awesome and germs. And my favorite usage is when Peter told Alan that he was smelly. :) He has also been trying very hard lately to put clothes on himself. He will sit for a really long time trying to put on a pair of pants, a shirt or his shoes and surprisingly does not get frustrated and start screaming. He has been successful in getting them on at times just usually the wrong way, pants on his arms for instance...

Peter has also learned to eat yogurt by himself and most of it usually gets in his mouth. He also learned to climb on the table via the chairs and thought that the salt shaker looked fun and proceeded to shake it everywhere-I am sure I will be finding salt in places for awhile. (he of course did this while I was nursing)

Isaac rolled over 3 times yesterday from his tummy to back and I actually got in on video which I will attempt to post. He also smiled a real recognition smile the other day and is really starting to study his environment more. So far in terms of weight /height he and Peter continue to progress the same (which I find a little weird) except that he is one inch longer than Peter was at this age, that combined with his super long fingers and feet make me think he will be taller than Peter. I guess we will have to wait and see if my prediction is true. I can't believe he is 6 weeks old already!

Grandparents

Alan's parents came into town for 2 weeks after Isaac was born. (I unfortunately do not have many pictures because our camera was stolen and I hadn't downloaded them yet.) But I do have this one, which shows where one of Isaac's favorite napping places was. Peter enjoyed having his grandparents spend the mornings with him at the zoo, the science center, swimming or just running up and down the halls of their hotel. (apparently Peter became quite the well-known personality at the hotel, he was always coming home with something that someone had given him) Peter loved being the center of attention and did his best to show off and win over his grandparents. And I enjoyed having some time in the morning to myself to get organized and to rest, especially since Peter was either up in the middle of the night or at 5 am I think just checking to make sure that his mom was still there!

We went to the Magic House one evening, and I had a lot of pictures of that on the camera but you will just have to take my word for it that Peter had a fun time. There were places to play in the sand, or in water or to crawl through or to build-a toddlers paradise!

Thanks Scott and Norma for coming to visit, we had a fun time!

Isaac's blessing

We blessed Isaac while Alan's parents were here so that they could be a part of the event. We had planned to do on March 6th but had to move it up to Feb. 27th due to Stake Conference. So he was only 2 1/2 weeks old and Peter was closer to 2 months old so the little suit that we used for Peter was a little big on Isaac, but I still think he looks handsome.

Father and son Our little man
Grandpa and Isaac His blessing was sweet and we were so happy to be able to have my parents, 3 of my sisters and Alan's parents there to celebrate with us. I had brought a recorder to record Peter's blessing but was not able to give it to Alan before the blessing so I held it and you can't really hear all of it over all the other kiddos in the congregation. This time I made sure Alan had it on him so we were able to record it much more clearly! Lesson learned! Now I just need to be better about getting pictures from the day!!

Another milestone

(If you look close you can barely see what is left of his black eye that he got while not paying attention on the playground one afternoon with Gpa Jensen. It was quite the shiner and I am sure will be the first of many!)

Peter turned one and a half on Saturday and is officially heading towards being two years old! Although most days you would think he is already there, or at least he does anyway! I can't believe how big my little boy is and I am still amazed everyday that he was ever the size of Isaac. He is such a joyful boy with a voracious curiosity who loves to make you laugh. So I don't forget here are Peter's current accomplishments.
  • Peter currently weighs in at 30 pounds and is 34 1/2 inches tall (think middle linebacker)
  • Peter has 11 teeth and is working on number 12
  • Much to his parents dismay Peter has recently learned to climb into his highchair, the kitchen chairs and up onto his changing table-I am waiting to find him on the kitchen cabinets...
  • Peter is a very social little boy and loves nursery and play group, he loves to get out of the house and play.
  • Peter is also quite the talker-we are at the point where we have to be very careful what we say around him because he understands everything and often repeats what we say. (I count this as a huge blessing since I think I would go crazy with a new baby and a toddler that I could not communicate with.)
  • Peter can also count to 13 and knows most all of his colors and recognizes some of the alphabet.
  • Some of Peter's favorite things right now are the moon, ties, balloons, balls, running, sticking his finger in Issac's eyes or mouth, singing songs, being outside, swimming, Elmo and cookie monster, eating and building with his blocks.
I can't wait to see what the next 6 months brings. Life is ever changing and full of surprises with these kiddos. I wouldn't trade anything for one minute of it. Happy half Birthday Peter!

One Month

I can't believe it, Isaac is one month old already! Wow-times sure does fly with two kiddos around! I don't have a picture to post because we can't find our camera (I suspect it was stolen from our car, but I really hope that Peter has just hidden it somewhere.) Luckily I had just downloaded pictures to the computer the day before it disappeared. But it looks like I will be purchasing a new one so if anyone has suggestions, let me know! Anyway-back to the real topic-Isaac. He is just a little cutie, I think he is going to have dimples and today before he fell asleep he smiled and then laughed for the first time. He is becoming more alert everyday and likes to lay on his back as he tries to grab at whatever looks interesting. He is also starting to "talk" a little bit as well.

Peter is enjoying being a big brother. We are still working on being "gentle" which he really is trying to do but he gets so excited and he is so much bigger that sometimes Isaac gets some rough love but he seems to be handling it ok.
Here is Peter being a big helpful brother and putting Isaac's paci in when he was crying. He thinks that is his appointed job, whether he needs it or not! Proud big brother and content little brother.

Pictures of Isaac

Here are some recent pictures of Isaac. We have had grandparents visiting the past few weeks so I haven't had a chance to download them until now but I will get updated soon with all of our fun activities.
