Let me preface this post with a little information on Peter. He loves balls. Not that I have pushed them on him I have tried to give him a variety of toys to play with but he has a definite preference to balls. He has this little basketball that I got him that he will play fetch with by himself forever and he never gets tired of it. What can I say-he's all boy! :)
Ok, so we went to Target on Friday to pick up a few things for Alan's yearly school picnic and I went to try on a few shirts I found on sale so Alan and Peter took off together to go find some bubbles. So when I am done I go to find them and when I do Peter is sitting in the cart holding this big blue ball like his life depends on it. This is how our conversation went....
D* Oh, so you decided to get Peter a ball, that will be fun at the picnic.
A* Well, I didn't have much of a choice.
D* What happened? (chuckling)
A* Well we were looking for the bubbles and we walked past the big cage with all the balls in it and I said look Peter, a ball. And I pulled the blue one out and gave it to him. Once I found the bubbles and tried to go put the ball back Peter had a total meltdown! (with bewildered look on face)
D* I see (now laughing)
A* He screams every time I try to take it away, even if it is to help him sit up because he has fallen to the side of the cart because the ball throws him off balance.
D* Well, looks like we are getting him a new ball then.
Cost of ball $2.00. Lessen learned and hours of enjoyment for Peter-Priceless!
