The 2010 Olympics

As many may know I am a sports fan-and I grew up watching the Olympics so I was super excited for the start of the Winter Games this year. I don't know if anyone has been watching but it has been quite the exciting games so far...but I feel a little sorry for Canada as there have been quite a few issues as well. For starters there was an accident during a practice run in the luge that led to a death before the games even opened, then there was the technical malfunction of the lighting of the torch, warm weather and rain that was melting the snow and ice, issues with the zambonie (spelling?) which caused unsafe ice and a huge delay and then to top it off last time I checked they only had 9 medals. Not things you want happening when you host the Olympics but they seem to be taking it in stride. But on the flip side, there has been quite alot of positive excitement especially for USA. Some of my fav's were the men's figure skating, snowboard halfpipe (I have decided they are all crazy) and short track speed skating. As I have been watching these and other events though I have realized that we do alot of crazy things in the name of sport-many I wouldn't even dare. Like strap yourself onto 2 wodden skiis and go down a hill and then up a 4 story ice ramp and then flip and twist and land hopefully on your feet...I love the halfpipe, but it is the same story, I saw someone face plant it on the top edge and the traniner in me cringed. Or how about sliding headfirst done an ice track at 90 miles an hour with a little helmet and some spandex between you and disaster? But I love it, I love the suspense, the anticipation and the amazing things we can make our bodies do if we put our minds to it! Go USA!!

Kevin and I usually watch the Summer games and not so much the winter, but this year I have really gotten excited. I even watched the Ice Dancing, which I have NEVER really done...I didn't really get it before. But at least Canada went away with their first gold. I thought it was funny how NBC put a spin on it and said, "North America got Gold and Silver." It sounded like they were trying to steal the thunder by saying that instead of "Canada got the gold and U.S. got the silver." I am with you on the Skeleton, there is no way in you know where that I would EVER do that, and even though the Luge is feet first, still, not going to be doing that EVER.

Karina loves the ice dancing. She loves to watch for a little bit and then dace with them too! Way cute. Conrad really liked the different flips people can do with their skis on. It has been fun to watch!

I've always liked winter olympics more than summer.

Canada... what can I say... low expectations always lead to lack-luster performance.

I watched quite a bit this year. Jake loves it. Highlights?
The snowboard half pipe: I was impressed with all the guys. And then Shawn White went. I think he went into orbit for a minute. Hooooooly cow. The other guys didn't even stand a chance.
I love watching the figure skating, but I can't help but comment on EVERY man's skating costume. ...you, know, whether they were ridiculous or in the realm of masculine costume.
I'm still confused about the silver snake outfit, but it certainly wasn't the worst --and the guy obviously worked it out.
