Happy 4th of July!

I love the 4th of July but due to the heat, the little kiddos and Alan's schedule we decided to change up our celebration this year and made our activities in the morning. We headed to a local parade in which Peter made a little friend who shared one of her flags with him and he scored quite a bit of candy, some beads and a ball. This was the only time Isaac was awake all morning, thankfully! He loved people watching at the parade. As you might be able to tell from the pictures, it poured down rain for about 5-10 minutes right before the parade started-at least we stayed cool! Peter really liked the marching bands, the ABush Clydesdale, the firetrucks and the bubble float. It was an OK parade, but Alan and I thought it was lacking in actual floats...lots of cool cars though. We then headed a few blocks away to where there was a carnival that was supposed to have allot of kid things to do, some of which being free, and met up with my sister and niece. We were disappointed to find the only free events were the music and sloshing through the mud but the kiddos had a fun time anyway!

Here they are in the train, they loved ringing the bell and yelling choo-choo! Can you believe we all fit in here?
What carnival is complete without a carousel?

Peter had fun trying to find me each time they went around, and I think it was fun for him to ride with daddy.

My sister pointed out this sign, who knew Peter had his own bench?

After heading home for showers and naps, we all met back up at our house for a BBQ before my sister headed off to watch the fireworks. I think this is the first year I ever remember missing them, but I don't think it would have been much fun with tired and hot kiddos. We attempted to make some homemade ice cream but halfway through the process realized there was a leak in the bottom of our practically brand new ice cream maker so it never set-bummer, I know. But I sealed up the leak and the next morning cranked the machine back up and we are now the owners of some fabulous rocky road ice cream! Yumm!

Isaac is so cute and chunky! Adorable!! We're sitting out the fireworks too for a couple of years. It's a bummer.

Your boys are adorable and you look great...even if you are squished in a little train or something!
